NEW VIDEO LOOKS AT PERFORMANCE CAPTURE BRINGING CHARACTERS TO LIFE
The fourth – and penultimate – entry in the JUST CAUSE 3 Dev Diary series takes a look at the story and missions driving JUST CAUSE 3’ s explosive action.

In JUST CAUSE 3, Rico Rodriguez returns to his homeland – the Mediterranean island of Medici. Far from the paradise it might appear on the surface, Medici is ruled by the dictator General Di Ravello, who uses the island’s resources to further his plans of world domination. Thankfully, Rico is no stranger to removing tyrannous dictators from power, and takes charge of the rebellion.

“Our missions are an excuse for you to try cool things,” explains Francesco Antolini, Principal Designer at Avalanche Studios. “…we’ve kept the same philosophy from the rest of the game which leaves the player free to experiment and reach their goals however they prefer.”

As well as highlighting the story and events leading up to the start of the game, the video takes a look at characters and the technologies behind them. In the video, there’s a fantastic insight into performance capture and the camera tech Avalanche Studios has used in bringing JUST CAUSE 3’s cast to life.

Team Razer’s Bravado Gaming, South Africa’s premier multi-gaming organisation and home to some of the best local and international competitive gamers, walked away with three solid victories at the 2015 Really Awesome Gaming (rAge) expo.

Sponsored by Razer, the squads Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Defence of the Ancients 2 (DOTA 2) and Heroes of the Storm (HOTS), took to the expo like the pro-gaming experts that they are.

The CS:GO squad not only competed in the Do Gaming Championships but they also emerged the winner during some tough competition at the 13th annual rAge expo. While they were knocked down to the losers bracket after losing 2-1 in the bracket final, they came back strong and secured a spot in the Sunday grand finals against Energy E-Sports. The team went on to beat Energy E-Sports 2-0, celebrating a solid victory.

DOTA 2 team members competed against some of South Africa’s best gamers throughout the expo and went on to win every single match on Saturday, to make it through to the grand finals on Sunday. The competition was a double elimination format and not once did the team drop into the losing bracket. On Sunday the Dota 2 team defeated team White Rabbit in the grand finals with a score of 2-0, winning the Telkom Do Gaming Championships.

The win came after gaming fans queued to meet, greet and offer their support to the DOTA 2 team – a phenomenal boost before the biggest gaming event in South Africa.

The HOTS squad was also named the winner of the first ever Heroes of the Storm tournament at rAge – an online team brawler game where players build and customise their Blizzard characters and team up with their friends to engage in strategic decision-making across the virtual battlefield. The competition saw eight teams competing for the grand prize of R60 000. Bravado Gaming smashed the competition, winning the Rectron Game Arena Finals.

Andreas Hadjipaschali, CEO of Bravado Gaming, says, “The Team Razer Bravado Gaming squads wowed at this year’s rAge and were absolutely flawless in their gaming expertise and their execution. The teams did not falter, not only taking gaming to the next level but playing a huge role in showing just what the Bravado Gaming brand is capable of.”

Two major platform updates plus ‘Arma 3 Apex’ expansion

Prague, Czech Republic, Wednesday October 14th 2015

With over two million copies sold to date, Bohemia Interactive today presented its plans for their tactical military shooter Arma 3 in the next year. The 2015-2016 roadmap, which was shared via a blog post written by the game’s Creative Director Jay Crowe, features two free platform updates that pave the way for the Arma 3 expansion in the second quarter of 2016.

First up will be the ‘Nexus Update‘, which is scheduled for release in November this year, and focuses upon the refinement of core features and multiplayer systems. This includes significant improvements to Arma 3 gameplay features such as stamina/fatigue, personal protective equipment, and more. Furthermore, the Nexus Update will deliver a revamped version of the End Game multiplayer mode, that was introduced earlier this year. The renewed End Game multiplayer will be paired with various improvements to general multiplayer systems, which can also be used in other official and unofficial Arma 3 multiplayer scenarios. Last but not least, alongside the Nexus Update, Bohemia Interactive plans to deploy a foundation build of ‘Arma 3 Units’ – a web-based service that aims to connect players with community groups.

The second platform update for Arma 3, codenamed ‘Eden Update‘, is penciled in for the beginning of next year (2016). The highlight of this update will be the official introduction of the brand new Eden 3D Editor. Designed as the logical evolution of the classic 2D Scenario Editor, which has been a core component of the Arma series since its debut in 2001, the new Eden Editor will give players far more control over their creations than ever before by enabling them to place and edit entities directly within the 3D game environment. Besides the new editor, the Eden Update will be complemented by several Arma 3 usability tweaks, and an overhaul of how players discover and join multiplayer sessions.

The Nexus and Eden platform updates lead up to the roadmap’s focal point: a major Arma 3 expansion in Q2 2016. Titled ‘Arma 3 Apex‘, this expansion will feature the 100 km2 South Pacific destination of Tanoa, which was first shown during the PC Gaming Show at E3 this year, plus a co-op campaign, new vehicles, weapons, and characters. One of the central themes of the expansion is near-future combat, which players will be able to recognize by the introduction of new vehicle classes such as VTOL aircraft and other new gameplay elements. As with previous Arma 3 DLC, the expansion will be accompanied by a major free platform update that seeks to address important ‘legacy’ issues related to Arma 3’s multiplayer, interaction mechanics, and discoverability of official and custom content. More information about the Arma 3 Apex expansion, including specifics on pricing, purchasing options, and early access availability, will be communicated next year.

“We’re optimistic and excited about our roadmap. Having recently hit the 2 million copies mark, we’re keen to grow even further! We’ve set out to refine our core gameplay, experiment with some fantastic new content, and deliver an unrivalled, open, diverse platform: truly, the apex of the Arma 3 experience”, concludes Arma 3’s Creative Director Jay Crowe in the full blog post.

H1Z1_604x423

H1Z1’s first female zombie, voiced by prominent Twitch streamer LegendaryLea, leads the pack in this latest game update.

The update also introduces Kurama Medical, a unique facility with various content loops that span its interior and exterior. Along with medicines and supplies, players can piece together the stories of those who sought refuge in the hospital during its final days before it was overrun and abandoned. Following these clues will offer not only insight into the fall of Kurama Medical, but also useful items to help players avoid the unfortunate fates of those trapped inside.

ATV s are now available for traversing H1Z1‘s vast landscapes, though player safety while riding on these exposed machines is not guaranteed.

Finally, this most recent update adds new ways to obtain items in H1Z1. The Item Exchange System lets players bundle items together to trade for even rarer treasures. Some ultra-rare items are only available through the Item Exchange system. There’s also the new Mercenary Crate, giving players the opportunity to obtain the new ghillie suits and their corresponding skins, ultra rare skins for the AR15, one of the most popular weapons in Battle Royale mode, and more.
