NEW VIDEO LOOKS AT PERFORMANCE CAPTURE BRINGING CHARACTERS TO LIFE
The fourth – and penultimate – entry in the JUST CAUSE 3 Dev Diary series takes a look at the story and missions driving JUST CAUSE 3’ s explosive action.

In JUST CAUSE 3, Rico Rodriguez returns to his homeland – the Mediterranean island of Medici. Far from the paradise it might appear on the surface, Medici is ruled by the dictator General Di Ravello, who uses the island’s resources to further his plans of world domination. Thankfully, Rico is no stranger to removing tyrannous dictators from power, and takes charge of the rebellion.

“Our missions are an excuse for you to try cool things,” explains Francesco Antolini, Principal Designer at Avalanche Studios. “…we’ve kept the same philosophy from the rest of the game which leaves the player free to experiment and reach their goals however they prefer.”

As well as highlighting the story and events leading up to the start of the game, the video takes a look at characters and the technologies behind them. In the video, there’s a fantastic insight into performance capture and the camera tech Avalanche Studios has used in bringing JUST CAUSE 3’s cast to life.

The fan support of Jason’s return to video games has been astonishing so far; the launch trailer has been viewed over 2.1 million times alone, and we’ve had over a million engagements across all social media platforms. The development team had earlier collaborated on the unreleased survival horror-themed game  Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp and plans to integrate much of that design into the new  Friday the 13 th game.

As you can imagine the conversion from Slasher Vol.1: Summer Camp to  Friday the 13th: The Game was a dream come true for our entire team” explained Ronnie Hobbs, of Gun Media. “1v7 asymmetrical multiplayer is a perfect fit for this franchise, and we can’t wait to share our creation with fans across the world.

It’s been nearly 30 years since fans have had the opportunity to experience a  Friday the 13th video game.” explained Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the  Friday the 13th franchise. “Technology has finally reached a level that allows us to produce an experience fans of the franchise deserve. It’s always been a dream of mine to let players fully BECOME Jason, and stalk camp counselors across a virtual Crystal Lake. I’m delighted we’re able to bring this fantasy to life!

Friday the 13th: The Game is being developed for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, for release in Fall, 2016.

Nissan-project-controller-760x401

On 26th of October 2015 Nissan’s Project Controller will enter the PlayStation Controller Hack phase. The idea with this phase is to reveal how the actual controller hack and programming was done. We are going to talk about the accomplishments and challenges we faced.

Here’s the description of the phase on Project Controller web page:

26th of October – PLAYSTATION CONTROLLER HACK

Hacking the PlayStation controller turned out to be quite a hassle.

Our initial idea was to hack the Bluetooth signals but that was way too tricky. After several failed attempts and moments of despair we decided to open up the controller and add our own cables to send signals from a microcontroller to simulate the button pushes. Now, after hours of hardcore hacking, everything is working more smoothly than we could possible imagine.

Next we need to connect the controller to the Nissan QASHQAI.

In addition to the description above, we are going to post film content and still images of the hacking process on our web site and social channels. But in order to create enough social buzz, we need your help.

Attached you will find still shots, a GIF animation and a link to a YouTube video (https://youtu.be/tHB3-DWbFH8) free to be published any way you choose. Please post and boost them as much as possible. You can also share this content with your associates and influencers.

We encourage you to use your imagination and hope that you post in your own words, but here’s a few example posts just to demonstrate the correct tone of voice.

“The first step in turning a car into a PlayStation controller. #Nissan #ProjectController”

“Ever tried to hack a PlayStation controller? Here’s how you do it. #Nissan #ProjectController”

“Turning a Nissan into a PES16 controller doesn’t seem that easy. #Nissan #ProjectController”

The story of The Nissan Controller is just beginning so let’s make this a huge thing for all of us.

The ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League Season 2 preseason event over the weekend kicked off the biggest ESL MKX Pro League season to date! The upcoming season, which begins November 1st, will see competitors from Europe, North America and CIS battle it out for US$1,000 per region each week, over a period of eight weeks. The best competitors will earn themselves a spot in the Grand Finals, which will pay out a total prize pool of US$100,000 in early 2016.

Making its debut this season is the all-new Mortal Kombat X game integration, set to fully automate aspects of ESL competition, once players sign up for the ESL App on Xbox Live. The game integration will be available in time for the beginning of ESL MKX Pro League Season 2’s regular season November 1st.

“Integrating Mortal Kombat X into our online infrastructure is one of the many things that we are working on at ESL. It has been a pleasure to work with NetherRealm Studios on making it a reality,” said Andreas Hofmann, Software Developer at ESL. “Previously players had to struggle with multiple devices and manually submit their results. Now, ESL’s competitive solution seamlessly pairs you with an opponent connected to the Xbox Live servers and will automatically submit the match outcomes to the ESL Play website.”

“ESL MKX Pro League Season 1 showcased a lot of incredible match-ups and the team at NetherRealm Studios is happy to be working with ESL for Season 2,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios and co-creator of Mortal Kombat. “It will be great to see how the competition pans out.”

For a full ESL MKX Pro League schedule along with more information regarding tournament structure, prize money and more, please visit the official Pro League site or follow ESL Mortal Kombat on Facebook and Twitter.
